Chu Chun Qiu didn’t understand why Lin Feng was asking him that. Nobody could rely solely on themselves to cultivate. They also needed opportunities.
“Do you know how old he is?” Lin Feng pressed, smiling and shaking his head.
Chu Chun Qiu nodded, “He looks like an old man, but he’s only a few centuries old, like us.”
“Indeed. You see the difference between him and us? He’s been a Godly Emperor of the second layer for a hundred years. He had to stop cultivating. If he hadn’t gotten sick, he would be stronger now, right?” Lin Feng smiled.
Chu Chun Qiu understood what Lin Feng meant. That was the difference between him and Lin Feng.
Lin Feng ignored Chu Chun Qiu’s puzzled expression and smiled, “He could also become a genius, but he was unlucky in life. Now he’s just the owner of a teahouse…
“Hehe, how many geniuses are there? Do you know? Nobody knows for sure. There can’t be only one Lin Feng, only one Chu Chun Qiu, but some of them aren’t as lucky as us and are oppressed by time.
“Why did we have the opportunity to rise? Why did those geniuses back in the days stay behind? Why are there some people who admire us? Or who are jealous of us? It’s only because we had great opportunities. We were lucky.
“I bumped into so many people who changed my life. Sometimes, it feels like someone has planned everything for me.
“I think that a part of it is planned and that the rest is just effort. Even if your fate is to become extremely strong, if you don’t work hard, you’ll never become extremely strong. But accidents can happen, too.
“I’ve gone through so many hardships in life. You’re the same. The Ancient Demon King possessed you, and you did your best to get rid of him.
“We are the same. We are people who can modify our own fate, but he couldn’t because he lost against fate. He lost against an enemy. He had no choice but to come here and open a teahouse.
“I wanted to help him, I wanted to show him that he could pursue his dream of becoming a cultivator. Even if he doesn’t become a Great Supreme God like us, at least he will be able to try, so he won’t regret anything.
“What do you think of that, Chu Chun Qiu?” Lin Feng asked seriously.
Chu Chun Qiu was amazed. He had never heard Lin Feng speak like that. He now saw a new side of his old rival. Lin Feng wasn’t just a cruel and violent enemy.
Even though he didn’t speak loudly, the old man of the teahouse heard him from the kitchen. When he heard Lin Feng, his eyes became wet and tears flowed down his cheeks.
Lin Feng was right. Completely right. In the past, the old man was considered a genius by everybody in his clan. They had placed high hopes on him. If he hadn’t been the victim of an evil scheme, he would have never become the mere owner of a teahouse. He might be sitting with Lin Feng and Chu Chun Qiu and getting drunk.
How sad. Who could understand such things?
He had always felt downhearted because of that, he had thought his life was over. But Lin Feng had shown up in his life and made him understood what the difference between a real genius and an ordinary cultivator was.
No wonder Lin Feng was considered a young genius in the Country of Eternity. He was strong and wise.
“Lin Feng, I will never forget your kindness. I, Wu Cheng Zu, will always do my best to help you if I ever have the opportunity, and my children, grandchildren, and all my other descendants will do the same. The Wu Clan will always support Lin Feng!” swore Wu Cheng Zu, wiping off his tears. He calmed down and came out of the kitchen with two plates of pickles.
At that moment, Lin Feng and Chu Chun Qiu remained silent. Wu Cheng Zu put the pickled vegetables on the table and then walked away again silently.
“Lin Feng, why did you destroy Yuan Hall?” asked Chu Chun Qiu, breaking the silence by pouring more wine into Lin Feng’s glass.
“To avenge my friend,” Lin Feng replied, downing his bowl.
Chu Chun Qiu was very interested. He asked curiously, “You destroyed an ancient sect because of a friend?”
“Is there a problem?” asked Lin Feng hoarsely. Indeed, there was no problem; couldn’t he avenge his friends?
“Would you save me if I were in danger someday…?” whispered Chu Chun Qiu.
Lin Feng frowned and looked at Chu Chun Qiu oddly. Why did he say that?
How awkward. Chu Chun Qiu smiled and waved hastily, “Ah, don’t worry. I’m just joking. If I were in danger, you would probably hope I die. Haha!” said Chu Chun Qiu, downing another bowl. He was already tipsy.
“If you were in danger, I would save you,” Lin Feng said seriously. He wasn’t joking at all.
Chu Chun Qiu looked very odd right then. He looked at Lin Feng in disbelief. Lin Feng smiled weirdly, “I would save you and then I would kill you. I would tell them you are not qualified to kill my sworn enemy. Only I can kill him!”
“Hahaha! Good. Good!” said Chu Chun Qiu, laughing wholeheartedly, then downed another bowl.
The two men laughed and drank. They only had over twenty bowls each and were already drunk.
Lin Feng and Chu Chun Qiu were drunk and enjoying themselves. It was a funny scene.
After many hours, they gradually started sobering up. It was dark outside. There was no moon that night.
“You were drunk?” asked Lin Feng with a smile.
“Well, weren’t you as well?” answered Chu Chun Qiu, also amused.
“Anyway, let’s talk about important things now,” Lin Feng said.
Chu Chun Qiu stopped smiling. “You saw the Ancient Demon King?” asked Chu Chun Qiu grimly.
“Yes. In Ju Valley. He is one of the mysterious cultivator’s servants,” Lin Feng confirmed calmly.
“What do you intend to do?” asked Chu Chun Qiu. He was just worried about the Ancient Demon King. The Ancient Demon King wouldn’t let either him or Lin Feng off, so they both had a common goal: Kill the Ancient Demon King.
“I want to kill him, of course, but he has the strength of the fourth Great Supreme God layer, he is mysterious, and he is one of the mysterious man’s servants. I don’t know how we can kill him,” Lin Feng said worriedly. Even though he knew about the Ancient Demon King’s life gate, he wasn’t sure he could actually kill him.
“Same here. So we have to join hands and help each other, even if we are sworn enemies.”
“Yes. I know that. I wouldn’t have come here otherwise,” Lin Feng agreed, nodding seriously.
“Since it’s that way, what do you intend to do?” asked Chu Chun Qiu seriously.
“Nothing. I have to go back to Ju Valley in two weeks,” Lin Feng replied honestly.
“The mysterious man gave me one month. If I don’t go back in a timely manner, he will kill my friends, relatives, and me. I came out just to solve a few issues. I have to go back,” Lin Feng explained.
“I see. I was wondering how you had come out. He gave you a condition…” Chu Chun Qiu sighed. He didn’t know who the mysterious man was or how strong he was. He had never seen him.
How come there was such a strong cultivator in the Country of Eternity?
“Lin Feng, I’ll go to Ju Valley with you,” Chu Chun Qiu said. He had an idea.
Lin Feng frowned, but he nodded. Since Chu Chun Qiu had an idea, why not? “Alright. With you, I will be safer,” Lin Feng agreed easily.
“Well, it’s the opposite for me. I’m in danger with you!” Chu Chun Qiu laughed.
